Mass Appeal Records Shares J Dilla’s “The Sickness” Featuring Nas

On April 15, Nas’ label Mass Appeal Records and J Dilla’s PayJay imprint will release “The Diary”. “The Diary”, which is a vocal album by J Dilla, was created in the early 2000’s.

We’ve already heard previously released singles “The Introduction” and “Gangsta Boogie”, which features Snoop Dogg and Kokane. At SXSW, Nas gave fans a sneak peak “The Sickness,” which features him and J Dilla rapping over a Madlib beat, but today, Mass Appeal Records has released the track to the public.

Featuring two of the 1990s standout artists, the J Dilla parts on the track were created in 2001, whereas Nas added his verse in 2016. Today, The track will be included on the upcoming album, but as an iTunes exclusive bonus track.

Nas had this to say about the late J Dilla:

May J Dilla continue to Rest in Power in Hip Hop Heaven for eternity. Honored to play a part in his works and honored to be a part of this song. He shines down on us with while we get to enjoy his Diary Of J Dilla album. His word ring loud on this one. Salute to all those who collaborated on this piece. Salute to Detroit and his family.
