Yesterday NikeLab showed us the first official photos for the Supreme collaboration Air Max 98.
They announced the collaboration via their Instagram with three photos of the red sneakers and some explanation behind the collaboration. You can see the three photos and their explanations below.
Introducing the NikeLab Air Max 98 x Supreme. From the era that birthed a local skate institution on Lafayette St., the Air Max 98 returns boasting Supreme’s signature colors. The World Famous brand also implements 360-degree reflective piping above patent leather and a color blocking scheme never before used on the Air Max 98, revamping the shoe through a modern design lens. Coming soon.
NikeLab Air Max 98 x Supreme. Iconic Air Max design language on the tongue and synthetic mesh on the collar and upper remain as an ode to the shoe’s original construction. Supreme’s influence on the updated classic shines brightest through the patent leather along the rand and mudguard. Coming soon.
So as a summary; the sneaker in this color way (others have been rumored including blue, black and snakeskin) is clearly inspired by the infamous Supreme box logo.
Supreme have gone away from the typical Air Max 98 color style by adding 360-degree reflective piping and a nice color blocking scheme to the upper of the sneaker. As a finishing touch, the Supreme slogan “World Famous” is tastefully added to the heel of the shoe.
