Nike To Re-Release Community Voted Air Max Sneaker

Today was the day Nike unveiled a campaign to re-release an Air Max sneaker on Air Max Day. The catch? The sneaker would be voted by the community.

The campaign is named “Vote Back” and there are two weeks in which you can vote once a day until the sneaker with the most votes will then release on Air Max Day (26th March).

There is a huge number of sneakers to choose from, in terms of colorways and silhouettes. There are a huge number of silhouettes ranging from the 1 to 97 and there are even some collaboration pieces in the mix.

The most famous collaborations on offer are with Japanese brand Atmos including the infamous Safari, Elephant and Viotech colourways of the Air Max 1. What is so great about this campaign as opposed to when Nike have retro-ed a model like in the past is that this will be an exact copy of the original sneaker. Meaning that if we are treated to the original red Air Max 1 for example, then we will get that lovely toe-box shape instead of the new shape which is pretty square and unpopular as a result.

At the time of writing, the top three in order are the Air Max 90 Duck Camo, Air Max 1 Atmos Elephant and the Air Max 90 Warhawk. But with a whole two weeks to go, the leaderboard could change significantly.

In some communities it seems people are not happy with the fact that some very recent trainers are eligible for a re-release. These trainers include the likes of the Air Max 90 Independence Day and the Air Max 1 Moon Landing. But at the end of the day, whatever people want the most will be re-released and it is looking like it could be a pretty recent model.

Nike have said only the winner will get a re-release, but let’s hope that perhaps they re-release the top three in case your favorite doesn’t quite clinch the crown. As for me, my votes each day will be spread between the Air Max 1 Atmos Elephant and the original red Air Max 1.

Head over to Nike to cast your vote each day for the next two weeks. The winner will be unveiled on March 26 (Air Max Day).
